Liam Neeson gives one his best performances in recent years as a toughened, grizzled hunter working in Alaska as a security guard for a team of roughnecks. When their plane goes down in the Yukon, this group of macho alpha males struggle to work together against the elements, which is put to the test when they realise they are being stalked by a pack of killer wolves. Far from the wolf-punching action flick it was packaged as, this is a downbeat and incredibly powerful survival thriller, directed by Joe Carnahan in an impressive return to form. The supporting cast is on excellent form and the film perfectly captures the hostility of their surroundings. Sorely overlooked and well worth checking out, this is a superior man vs nature flick with an awesomely gritty 70s vibe.
