The onset of the holidays means it is awards season in Hollywood. While plenty of this year’s contenders, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and Jon M. Chu’s Wicked: For Good, have already opened in Hong Kong cinemas, the likes of Marty Supreme, starring best actor hopeful Timothée Chalamet, have yet to secure a release date.
Similarly, the Hong Kong release of the season’s biggest blockbuster, James Cameron’s eagerly awaited Avatar: Fire and Ash, has been indefinitely postponed out of respect for the recent Tai Po fire disaster.
Despite these omissions, the next three months promise a bounty of top-tier entertainment to meet all audience tastes, from horror sequels to sci-fi adventures and awards hopefuls. Below are 12 of the biggest titles set to open in the city this winter (opening dates are for Hong Kong).
