Three Colours: White

Three Colours White
A surprising change of pace after the profound intoxicating power of Blue, this second chapter in Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Three Colours trilogy is a lighter, goofier affair. Karol (Zbigniew Zamachowski) will do anything to win the love of his young French wife, Dominique (Julie Delpy), who sets out to divorce him for failing to consummate their marriage. What follows is an almost Coen Brothers-esque journey into an underworld of contract killings, land disputes, wintry landscapes and luggage. Destined to be the most maligned of the trilogy, this is nevertheless a charming, unexpected oddity.
