Futureworld
I have seen Michael Crichton’s Westworld a number of times, but had never gotten around to watching this 1976 sequel before today. Starring Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner as a couple of intrepid journalists, the film have relatively little to do with the original. Delos, the company responsible for Westworld, is looking to salvage its public image and invites a number of dignitaries and journalists for a tour of the new facility. Once there, Fonda & Danner are immediately skeptical that a facility run almost entirely by robots can be safe, but that proves merely the tip of the iceberg. The film touches on a number of paranoid theories popular during the seventies, and has more in common with Invasion of the Bodysnatchers than its predecessor, but ultimately cops out, therefore lessening the blow of what came before.
