On this week’s dispatch, Fernando and James discuss the nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards – which take place on 24 February – weighing up the relative merits of the contenders in each category, and distinguishing between the films and artists they want to see win and those they believe will be taking home Oscars on the big night.
Dispatch 24 – Oscars 2013

Good stuff, I liked this episode, mostly because I agree with you mostly on who’s going to win.
I wasn’t a fan of Silver Linings. I hope it wins the least awards it possibly can and so I’m glad you mentioned the Weinstein Co as the only reason why it’s on the list at all.
I wish Reality would have gotten some recognition, Alexandre Desplat’s score is fantastic, very evocative of the works of Nino Rota. He was a busy man this year, he did a great job on Moonrise Kingdom too and I happen to like that movie very much 🙂 It was good to see Roman Coppola getting some love for the screenplay and Amour is probably what I’m happiest about. I I didn’t expect it to get all those nominations, granted they won’t win all of them, but it’s still a satisfaction!
I also agree with you on Christoph Waltz even though I loved Django, yeah his role is not that different from the one he already won for. And thanks for mentioning Eiko Ishioka, I’m a fan of her work and she was a true visionary.
Again, it’s always a good time listening to you guys discuss movies and I look forward to the next Dispatch!
