Pusher II
Refn returns home and revisits the world of his hugely successful debut, this time focusing on Mads Mikkelsen’s side-kick, Tonny. Fresh out of jail, he looks to get back in the game, but must first contend with his own oppressive father and the shocking news that he may well have sired a child of his own while inside. Mikkelsen gives a star-making turn, tail spinning out of control as he struggles to get a handle on life on the outside and his role within it. A commercial success that helped the director get back on his feet after the failure of Fear X, Pusher II is probably the most accessible of the trilogy.
