dial m for murder
A wonderful opportunity to Hitchcock’s only 3D movie restored and on the big screen, but it’s plain to see the director shot his film this way reluctantly and with huge contempt for Warner Bros. Ray Milland and Grace Kelly do fine work, but both are upstaged by John Williams’ chief inspector. But there’s no escaping the film’s stagey single-location feel, and Hitch’s persistence in cluttering the foreground with lamps, bottles and other insignificant objects to illustrate just how ludicrous 3D really is.
