Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama team up for the transnational crime thriller The Blue Road, Netflix’s upcoming K-drama in which they play rival detectives on the trail of a viciously creative serial killer whose crime spree spans South Korea and Japan.
Adapted from the 2002 manhwa (Korean comic) – itself a cross-border collaboration steered by Takashi Nagasaki (aka Keishi Edogawa) and Gaya Kwon – and set against the backdrop of the 2002 World Cup co-hosted by the two nations, the show is much more than a straightforward murder mystery.
Directed by Han Jun-hee (D.P.) and adapted by Cho Yu-jin (Pilot), The Blue Road plunges deep into the strained relationship between the two Asian powerhouses while also embracing the humorous dynamics of the mismatched buddy cop genre.
