Shin Min-a is, for all intents and purposes, Korea’s first Disney Princess as she plays the titular royal in the lavish new K-drama The Remarried Empress.
Adapted from Alphatart’s web novel of the same name, this star-studded romantic fairy tale tells the story of Navier Ellie Trovi (Shin), whose position in the mythical Eastern Empire is threatened when her once-faithful husband, Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon), takes a mistress: Rashta (Lee Se-young), a runaway slave he has rescued.
Directed by Jo Soo-won (Pinocchio, My Happy Ending), the series unfolds amid extravagant finery and sprawling palaces that feel part Palace of Versailles, part theme park. It may only be a matter of time before Navier joins Cinderella and Elsa in Disneyland’s famous parades.
